Color and Font change! [Scene changes from me being put in time out, to sitting around a campfire at night with a bunch of impressionable children.] All right boys and girls, let's all gather round the camp fire now and your lovely counselor here, that's me, will tell you a story. [Children sit on the logs surrounding the fire and settle down with their kettle corn and hot chocolate.] This is a tale of friendship, admiration, truth, and a choice that could change one girls life forever! [Children lean in closer. Counselor clears her throat and then begins.] (Note: the names of the characters in this story are fake so don't think you are one step closer to stalking me because you know my name, because it's not really my name. So HA! ;) Gotcha)
There once was a young lass, named Maria. Maria was not a very happy person. Three months prier, her "friend," Michelle, had gotten bored with Maria and decided she was no longer fun to be around. Michelle happened to have a very loyal, very desirable click in which she ruled, and once her posse was told that Maria was "yesterday's news" they all dropped her so fast Maria had no idea what was going on. Suddenly all of Maria's friends were ignoring her completely, giving each other pointed glances when she tried to talk with them, and never sitting anywhere near her. So here is Maria, the girl no one messes with. She arrives at school with her black hood up and her earbuds in, playing her iPod full-blast to drown out the sounds of all she despises. There were scarce people who acknowledged her existence, and even fewer who would bother to talk to her. Well, one day Maria was walking through the halls of her school when she spotted a new face. This girl wore neon fingerless gloves, a rainbow studded belt over a band T-shirt, and dark pink skinny jeans which accented her worn converse shoes. Maria was superficial enough to immediately want to be this girls friend simply because of the way she dressed. She looked different from everyone else at school, even more different compared to Maria herself who mostly wore black with the exception of a few other dark colors. Maria noted that Michelle was already setting her eyes upon this blond mystery, and the sight of her made Maria want to commit a murder. This feeling was short lived once Maria went to class and saw the new girl sit at the empty table that was where Maria usually sat. They both regarded each other with polite glances and exchanged a few hello's. After class Maria had learned a total of two things. 1) The new girl's name was Alice. And 2) Alice was not judgmental in the slightest. An extreme contrast to her classmates. Time passed and Alice and Maria got closer, and when they got to a point where they could call each other friends Alice began to rub off on Maria. Slowly, very slowly, Maria was coming to not judge others and assume that every teenager she passed was simply going to use her and then stab her in the back. Eventually the duo gained a third member: April. A sweet, easy to talk to, fun loving girl who dreamed to be an actress.
Two years went by and the three remained relatively the same, except for Maria that is. Maria had matured greatly in the company of her friends. While she still had a deep rooted hate for Michelle, Maria had become acutely happier and was chipper and bright 24/7--exactly what she has once hated in others. Then, one year, a series of things happened. First, she discovered that April was not nearly as agreeable as she had once thought. It turned out that April held and expected Maria to be accountable for hundreds of double-standards. For example, Maria noticed that whenever she told a joke to April it was not funny and was in fact considered immature or inappropriate and April made Maria feel as if she should be ashamed of herself. Whereas, when April told a joke it was the funniest thing on earth and Maria was a complete jerk for not finding it nearly as funny. Another example was that if ever there was going to be a sleepover it was automatically going to be at Aprils house because April had a giant flat screen tv inside her giant house in her giant neighborhood filled to the brim with stuck up rich people who also had giant houses and giant tv's. Maria's house would never do because her tv's weren't anything special at all, plus, who would want to go over to her house anyway? So average! Another thing that could be noted was April's double-standards with friends, boys, and dreams. April would constantly brag to Maria about her many friends and how they all adored her. How all the men were head over heels for her. How she was so talented she just knew she could be a great actress. However, if Maria ever talked about being friends with anyone other than April or Alice, April would snort and say, "what friends?" If Maria would mention how she was excited because she thought that a guy may have been flirting with her (Maria had a strong fear that no one would ever want her), April would snort, again, and tell Maria that he was most definitely not flirting, and then would tell Maria she was so absurd to think that he would flirt with her at all. If Maria would talk about her dream of being a writer, April would say bluntly that she thought her writing was nothing special and that she should think more practically, become a waitress perhaps.
Alice was no better. Maria had found recently that Alice was extremely bossy to the point of being unbearably annoying, plus she always had to be in charge. Maria hated being told what to do, so this was obviously a problem. And now sits poor little Maria. She had thought that these friends were different and that she was past all this drama. At least she had her new friend Jade to help her along. Jade was Maria's new classmate, and they both instantly clicked, finding that they had a lot more in common than they had thought. Jade was very understanding and accepting of Maria. Maria even felt comfortable discussing her crush on Porter with her, and, thankfully, Jade did not think Maria odd at all. In fact, Jade said that she thought the two fit each other perfectly. Maria was elated. Of course, she still had to deal with her other two friends, but she knew that this time if things ended badly it would be different. This time she wouldn't be alone. THE END!
Okay, the Novel is over. You can all wake up now. I told you before that I was going to be ranting. Well [looks up at all she has written] there you have it. I was really trying not to be a total downer on my happy blog-high but it looks like i have done just that. I am sorry people. I'm sure that the last thing you all want to read about my stupid life story, and an extremely edited version of it at that. I tried my best to keep it to the point and short but....I don't think I did very well. [Sighs] I really need to lighten up. Thanks for reading, again. I promise to get better at this whole blogging thing :) Goodbye, all. See you tomorrow....maybe.
Comments are better than inhaling muffins!!
Love,

LOL I had the hardest time trying to figure these people out (name wise) but I finally got it when Jade came into play. Don't worry, Maria, I'm here for you..."Dear Maria, count me in. There's a story at the bottom of this bottle and I'm the pen".
ReplyDeleteI love the end note btw. And I suggested you in my blog, so hopefully you will get some followers as well.
I for one, love your blog, and I'm glad I became a follower of it.
TEAM MARIA!
I love that song! Hah, sorry. I tried to make it obvious enough for you to figure out but not so obvious that unwanted eyes will guess who i'm talking about.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the whole Porter thing is cutting it pretty close. How do you spell that name you told me on the phone, again?
